One more thing I would like to share from our final presentation are the models.  These models come straight from a computer, which means they are more like 3d prints than traditional handmade models. Models

In parallel to the digital work we have been doing we have also been working in model form, trying to create physical manifestations of the digital proposals.  This has led us to many discoveries, especially in terms of how, structurally, the space “wants” to be deformed. In addition to the primary  urban systems that we have developed Diego has been working on parametrizing the architectural systems we are trying to incorporate.  Above is an image of a script he wrote to gradate the openings in the surface based on program and proximity to certain elements on the site. Surface Layers

The major move we have made this term is to use multiple layers.  Instead of having just one voronoi pattern that we manipulate we have now developed three (though we may reduce that to 2).  Each voronoi pattern is informed by different flows and programs on the site.  These are then redistributed by the fluid [ READ MORE ]

Fluid Points

Since the beginning of the new semester we have been transforming the work we did through more refined techniques.  The first of these was done by Rafael over the summer.  Realizing that our point distribution was chaotic, he took a grid of points and using the fluid dynamic engine in the Maya software and developed [ READ MORE ]
