Here are some early studies for a parametric tower that I am doing at work. It is a twisting tapering thing with cross brace structure. Models

In parallel to the digital work we have been doing we have also been working in model form, trying to create physical manifestations of the digital proposals.  This has led us to many discoveries, especially in terms of how, structurally, the space “wants” to be deformed. Structure & Openings

In addition to the primary  urban systems that we have developed Diego has been working on parametrizing the architectural systems we are trying to incorporate.  Above is an image of a script he wrote to gradate the openings in the surface based on program and proximity to certain elements on the site. This is a fun experiment we did at the end of last term. It was our first experiments with digital techniques. We use Rhino to model the power plant. We used Maya particle dynamics a couple of times. This blog is part of my work with computational architecture. I studied at the AA DRL and have been working with various collaborators on projects around the world since finishing in February 2009.

I am interested in how parametric design can be used to simultaneously distribute and articulate space. I try to achieve this through the processes of architecture from conception to construction.
