In addition to the primary urban systems that we have developed Diego has been working on parametrizing the architectural systems we are trying to incorporate. Above is an image of a script he wrote to gradate the openings in the surface based on program and proximity to certain elements on the site.
Another exploration the Diego has been working on is to develop a voronoi structural system which we can apply to some of the larger cells in our urban field. The idea is that as the span of these cells increase so does their structural depth. At some point this depth becomes inhabitable and we are looking for a way to organize this space to be able to take another level of program. The structural logic is fairly simple, with more smaller cells being created in areas of tension and larger cells in areas where the beam/truss experiences compression. This research works through both 2dimensional and 3dimensional scripts and we have developed this into physical models.
